Legal & editorial
Privacy Policy
Effective / last substantive review notation:
1. Who we are
Judaica Advisor operates an editorial comparison and review website focused on Judaica retailers, gifting, and ceremonial shopping resources. References to “we”, “our”, or “us” describe the publisher behind Judaica Advisor. If we introduce a formal business entity later (LLC/company filing), we will update this disclosure with the precise legal entity name, correspondence address, and registration numbers where legally required.
2. Scope & applicability
This policy describes how visitor information flows when you browse our static pages, outbound affiliate retailers, or contact us electronically.
- Applies whenever you interact with Judaica Advisor on the public Internet.
- Editorial context targets readers shopping from the United States—tax, duties, FTC expectations, merchant SLAs cited on-site reflect that vantage.
- Does not dictate how third-party merchants, affiliate networks (ShareASale, Awin, in-house dashboards, etc.), or payment processors retain data—they maintain their policies.
- Children: our content targets adults gifting or outfitting Judaica lifestyles. Do not knowingly provide child data.
3. Information we—and our infrastructure partners—may collect
3.1 Voluntary submissions
Email or form requests (merchant inquiries, typo reports, investigative tips) inevitably include identifiers you supply—usually your address, narrative text, screenshots, timestamps. Minimal principle: reply only using what you sent.
3.2 Passive technical telemetry
Serving static markup through Cloudflare still generates standard diagnostics: approximate geography (derived from truncated IP handled at the edge), referrer headers, HTTPS/TLS fingerprints, cache hit telemetry, anomaly detection metadata. Many fields never reach our notebooks—Cloudflare summarizes them. We also delegate aggregated traffic measurement to Google Analytics 4 (§3.2.1). Beyond GA4 and Cloudflare diagnostics, we do not load discretionary remarketing personalization pixels today.
3.2.1 Google Analytics 4 (gtag)
We invoke Google Analytics 4 through Google’s publicly hosted JavaScript snippet (Google tag / gtag.js). Google assigns cookies or similar storage on eligible browsers and correlates pseudonymous identifiers with aggregated usage reports. How Google retains, transfers, or secures Analytics data falls under Google’s Privacy Policy & product documentation. You may use browser tooling (e.g., ad / analytics blockers supported by Google) to limit tagging where technically feasible—but note some analytics blocking may degrade our ability to understand traffic mix at macro levels only.
3.3 Affiliate program visibility
Affiliate networks record hop-click streams (timestamp, SKU context, referrer, device class) to attribute commissions correctly. Affiliate cookies may span 30–365 days depending on advertiser program docs (see disclosures on individual comparison matrices). Because these cookies live on advertiser domains once you bounce off-site, we describe them plainly but rely on advertiser-specific policies for granularity.
4. Processing purposes
- Deliver HTTPS content with edge redundancy and abusive-traffic safeguards.
- Investigate breakage reports, legal demands, suspected fraud, spam, scraping abuse.
- Analyze aggregated readership journeys to prioritize vertical expansion (e.g., wedding registry vs menorah gifting) without deterministic profiling today.
- Honor affiliate bookkeeping obligations mandated by advertiser contracts (click logs, FTC audit trails).
5. Legal bases / transparency by region
European Economic Area, UK & Switzerland framing: where GDPR/UK GDPR style laws apply and we knowingly process identifiable data attributable to identifiable EU/UK persons (e.g., email correspondence initiated by EU residents): lawful bases commonly include contractual necessity when responding at your instruction, legitimate interests balancing test for security/logging, consent when we deliberately deploy optional tracking or marketing integrations.
United States supplemental notes: certain states (California, Colorado, Virginia, etc.) afford residents rights to transparency, portability, deletion, opt-out-of-sale / profiling in specified contexts—as those regimes evolve alongside court interpretations. Judaica Advisor does not sell personal information for monetary consideration today; outbound affiliate redirection is remuneration for editorial placement—not a brokerage of user dossiers—but legal nuance evolves; we revise this section proactively.
6. Retention & safeguards
Operational logs roll off per Cloudflare’s published retention ladders unless narrower periods are warranted for incident response. Mailbox archives retain correspondence only as necessary to evidence contracts, FTC inquiries, harassment investigations, tax compliance, then schedule deletion. We depend on cryptographic transport, partitioned credentials, patched device hygiene, MFA on publishing accounts—even static sites require vigilant ops.
7. Your privacy choices
- Use browser protections (global privacy control signals, hardened tracking protection) knowing some affiliate hops may degrade payout attribution—not our intent, but advertiser-side reality.
- Request access, objection, portability, deletion, correction by emailing [email protected] (flag jurisdiction + URL in subject lines so we route faster).
- Unsubscribe wording reserved for eventual newsletter product—explicit opt-in forthcoming.
8. International transfers
CDN edges and advertiser infrastructure span multiple countries. SCCs/BCR equivalents may govern processor relationships where Cloudflare and partners publish them—we rely on their compliance statements while evaluating enterprise upgrades if DPIA triggers arise.
9. Third-party links & storefront behavior
Our CTAs reroute readers to storefronts controlling checkout, personalization, fingerprinting experimentation, remarketing overlays. Scrutinize each merchant cookie banner before consenting—we cannot audit every DOM mutation third parties deploy asynchronously. See methodology documentation in Editorial standards.
10. Changes & versioning
Judaica Advisor will append dated change logs when materially altering collection scope. Continued browsing after conspicuous notice publication constitutes acknowledgement where permitted by governing law—we still encourage affirmative rereading for compliance teams auditing affiliate partners.
